Years Mack
can you find for me MACK TRUCK made in year 1985, engine mdel EM6-285?

can you find for me an image of an axel for a MACK TRUCK, engine model EM6-285,horse power 283 made in USA in the year 1985?

Kribiyus: I haven’t got an image; but you are talking about the “R” Series
“Cool-power” Mack that’s engine was fitted with a ‘air-to-air’ radiator
in the intake system -to cool the in-coming air-charge
(that the tourbo-charger may have HEATED under “full-throttle”, up-hill, conditions.

The rear axle to get is the one with a: 4.1 : 1 “Crown-wheel-to-Pinion”
‘axle-ratio. (These -with the 12-speed, over-drivven gearbox
were the “choice” -for the long haul.. across Australia.

Lookout! Many Macks -even in the mid-’80′s were TOO low-geared for ‘General-Freight’, highway-running. (By the late 1980′s I believe you COULD order a “3.9 : 1″ crown-wheel-&-pinion set: for ultra-long distance ECONOMY.

Another thing on Macks.. you CAN leave out the LONGEST leaf-spring
-in the front. -This will give a [drammatically better] ride -with no ill-effects;
(-AND it is probably true of the “Cammel-Backed” rear-springs, also).
I have no info on “load-Carrying” figures, handy..

Where-ever a truck (-ANY truck), has “shockers”/dampers ON the springs,
ALWAYS re-assemble those ‘leaves’ with graphite -GREASE
between EVERY leaf ! (Unless you really want a “Ride-like-a-ROCK”)!
